Committee

 IOW MMOC COMMITTE MEMBERS:

Following the 2024 AGM a number of changes have occurred - the new committee is listed below:

 Sally Cochran – Chair

Sally has had an interest in classic cars since
the age of 14, when her Dad bought a
1969 MGB GT as a project car.
 She’s owned several MGs herself,
as well as a 1972 VW Beetle,
and belonged to both local MG and
VW Owners Clubs on the mainland.
Classics made way for sensible modern
cars once she and Paul started a family,
that was until 2021 when they purchased
 a 1971 ex-RAF Traveller. “Rafferty”
has seen a number of improvements,
probably with still more to come.

Stuart Scovell Magazine Editor -

Former Chair Stuart has
used his  XDL 424 green Lay A Floor Minor Van since 1981, now both enjoying retirement.

He also owns and has restored a Snowberry White Traveller after placing a bid on eBay after seeing the car with the registration LAY 283E, a divine sign if there ever was one.

Jonathan Lewis – Treasurer Jonathon is an  ideal  treasurer with his former day job being based in a high street bank. He currently owns a classic BMW Z3 , and a Minor saloon, having recently owned  an Austin A35 an MGB and a flash Mercedes E class coupe!

Sally Woodcock - Acting Secretary

Sal’s car is URK 567, a blue and silver 2 door 1958 saloon, which she has owned for over 45 years. Sal lived in the West Midlands area until late 2015 when she and her now sadly late husband moved to the Island. She was a founder member of the Birmingham Branch of the MMOC and is our liaison officer with the National Club.

Andy Smith- Membership Secretary

Andy Smith has been
a serial Morris Minor
amateur restorer for
many years and has now rejoined the committee as membership seretary. He owns a
convertible and a
crew cab pick up, both home restorations.

Paul Cochran- Co-opted Member

Paul has had an interest in classic cars since his teens, and his first car at
age 19 was an 1968 MGB.  Over the years ha has owned other MGs, and 1972 VW Beetle and other cars which would now be conisdered as classics.(or bangers depending on your outlook). He moved from Kent to the Isle of Wight in 2015 with his family, and wife and he purchased their first Morris Minor in 2021, a 1971 Traveller with an RAF history, which he is currently improving. Paul produced the IOWMMOC calendar in 2024 and is hoping to do so again for 2027.

Gary Westbury - Co-opted Member

Gary grew up with a silver 9/16” spanner in his mouth

as his late father Colin ran Halfway Service Station in Lake and was President of the VHVC for many years. So at his suggestion Gary’s first car was a light blue 4 door Minor Saloon. In 1986 impatient to meet his new girlfriend (now wife) he wrote it off by rolling it on Long Lane. Then followed a Hillman Imp, a

Citroen GS, an MG Montego, a couple of MGB

Roadsters, a couple of Daimler 2.5L V8’s and even a Bentley Mulsanne Turbo. Gary has taken his classics to the Scottish Highlands, Northern France, Le Mans 24hour a few times, and is a regular at the Goodwood Revival & Members meets. In 2024 Gary decided that his British Racing Green MGB of nearly 20 years, albeit in pristine condition, should give way to a more practical classic, maybe even an estate to take the dog(s) too. t just so happened this coincided with a gorgeous Bermuda Blue Traveller at the bottom of his road, that he’d coveted for many years, coming up for sale. So with the car that started it all in mind, it just seemed like fate.
