The federation of British Historic Vehicles Clubs exists to up hold the freedom to use historic vehicles on the road. It does this by representing the interests of owners of such vehicles to politicians, government officials, and legistrators both in the UK and Europe. The format for the day is a tried and tested formula. The federation sets the date each year (as close as possible to the anniversary of the 1000 Mile Trial) and publicises the event nationally. The many clubs that comprise the Federation’s membership then plan and schedule regional and local events throughout the country. The events are as varied as the vehicles taking part and include Drive Outs, Rallies, and meetings at local beauty spots or historic sites. Important venues such as The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Brooklands, The British Motor Museum, Gaydon and Bicester Heritage are expected to take part, but there will be scores of events the length and breadth of the country.

Theres still time if you want to purchase a Fundraising Plate for your car on IOW Drive It Day Sunday the 26th April, all profits going to be donated to NSPCC Childline. Contact. Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.

Moggyfest 2026 Beaulieu
Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2026

For anyone who’s thinking of attending Moggyfest at Beaulieu in May, please be aware you need to be on site no later than 08.30am. This does mean either getting an early ferry, or staying overnight on the Friday. If you are planning on getting the ferry from Yarmouth to Lymington, the crossing will be at 06.55am, this gets you onto the
mainland for 07.35am and then it’s a 15 minute drive to Beaulieu.

If you haven’t been to this event before, do try and go as it’s a great day (or weekend if you’re planning on doing both days). There is a £25 registration fee but this gets your free entry to the Motor Museum (usually £27 per person), and there’s also the Spring Autojumble to look round for goodies. It’s a dog friendly event so you can bring your woofer too (although they’re not allowed in the museum).

Don’t fancy the early ferry? There’s a Travelodge in Lyndhurst with basic facilities if you just need somewhere to lay your head for the night. Or have a look at one of the pubs offering bed and breakfast, or try Airbnb for something a little quirky.
